My tattoo is based on Albrecht Durer's drawing "hands" commercially known as "praying hands" It is a drawing of his brothers damaged hands ,who had worked down a mine for four years to support Albrecht's four years at Art School. It is one of the most popular religious tattoos. A friend of mine at Art School had a copy of the drawing on his wall; his house was a real dive. The house was turned upside down and I liked turning the drawing upside down and calling it "The Dive". Better than working down a mine I thought.
